Information design is the practice of creating order out of chaos by preparing and providing information to make sense of things. Information design focuses on the effectiveness of information, it is a visual method of explaining and interpreting complex data.
Instructional Design centers around creating instructional tools and ideas to encourage learning most effectively, considering the needs of the learner through their experience.

An example of Information Design is the cityrail network where it visually explains the paths of the track lines in Sydney. It is colour coded for easy reading and a legend to understand the track lines and other symbols.

Another example of is the use of visual graphs to display information about statistics.
